Spartans Run Well at Viroqua

The Spartans competed in their 2nd meet of the season at the Viroqua Invitational on a new course at the Fairgrounds. Of the 19 Spartan runners competing, 18 showed improvements from their last meet. The boy’s team finished 4th out of a strong 8 team field. Leading the way for the Spartans was Max Engh finishing 9th out of 97 runners in a time of 18:22. Close behind were Caleb Pokorny 18:56 (15th), Nick Stritchko 18:57 (16th), Izak Anderson 19:07 (17th), and Kole Nelson 19:40 (28th). finishing off for the Spartans were Mathias Krein 20:52 (41st), Chad Merow 20:55 (42nd), Ryan Mohr 21:36 (54th), Ethan Anderson 21:38 (56th), Brennen Kenworthy 22:36 (68th), Sean Ferguson 23:15 (75th) and Brady Towne 23:34 (77th).
Boys Team Scores: LaCrosse Central-31, Holmen-51, Viroqua-76, Sparta-85, Boscobel-145, Hillsboro-149, Necedah-191 and North Crawford-241.
For the girls Taylor Winterton led the way with a 7th place finish out of 100 runners in a time of 21:04. Kari O’rourke ran a great race finishing 2nd for the Spartans and 27th overall in 23:26, closely following were Aly Laufenberg 23:34 (28th), Angie Talsky 23:55 (33rd), Lydia Hone 26:34 (58th), Julianna Pokorny 26:38 (59th) and Alyssa Falkner 38:16.
Girls Team Scores: LaCrosse Central-43, Holmen-69, Viroqua-73, Boscobel-106, Hillsboro-115, Sparta-127 and North Crawford-193.
The team is back in action next Thursday at GET (Ettrick Golf Course) beginning at 4:30 PM.
