Teams fare well at GET

The Sparta Cross Country team faired well at GET this past Thursday. Individually there were some ups and downs but the team effort was great. The boys finished a strong 2nd of 16 teams, just 3 points behind Mauston. Max Engh once again led the Spartans running the 3.1 mile course in 18:21 (4th overall). A pack of Spartans were close behind as Izak Anderson finished in 18:41 (13th), Caleb Pokorny in 18:43 (14th), Nick Stritchko in 18:49 (18th), Kole Nelson in 19:18 (26th) and Mathias Krein in 20:57 (56th). There were 97 varsity runners in the race.

In the girl’s race the Spartans finished 3rd in the 15 team field. Taylor Winterton once again led the Spartans finished her 3.1 miles in 21:14 (4th overall). Coming in 2nd for the Spartans was Angie Talsky in 22:51 (13th), Aly Laufenberg in 23:31 (25th), newcomer Tori Hanson in 24:02 (31st), Kari O’Rourke in 24:12 (36th),Julianna Pokorny in 27:01 (66th), and Lydia Hone in 29:00 (73rd). There were 82 varsity runners in the girl’s race.

In the boy’s JV race Ethan Anderson impressed with a 3rd place finish overall in a time of 20:04. He was followed by Ryan Mohr in 20:36, Sean Ferguson in 22:23, and Brennen Kenworthy in 22:24.

In the girl’s JV race Allysa Falkner finished in 38:19.
